Sending large files over the internet
By R Grayling
As you will know if you have sent a manuscript or an illustration via email recently, file size can sometimes be a problem. How many times have you compressed your 300 page Word document and attached it to a mail, only to have it thrown back in your face an hour later with a ‘Your file exceeds the limit set by the recipients mailbox’ message?
Well, never fear for mailbigfile is here...
Mailbigfile.com allows you to send files up to 100 MB using their website and is so simple to use - even I could send one!
How to send
Simply go along to their site at http://www.mailbigfile.com and enter the email address of the person you would like to Send File To in the first box.
Point the website to your ‘big file’ by using the Browse... button.
*If you like, you can let them know who it has come from and also pop a little message in there too.
Once you are ready to go then simply click on Send File and the upload will commence.
*Depending on the speed of your broadband upload, you will then see a box marking off what per cent of the file has been uploaded. Please bear in mind that upload speeds are a lot slower than download speeds.
Once the whole file has been transferred, you will see a Message confirming that your file has gone and your recipient will receive an email with a link to your file.

Confirmation Message
The whole thing is so easy to do for both parties and gets around not only mailbox and attachment size issues, but also allows you to send PDFs. DOC, JPGs, GIF, PNGs etc without any problems from your outgoing mail server.
