Getting Publicity

You may have a book deal with a smaller publishing house or have decided upon the Self-Publishing route. Either way, you will have to do a lot of the online marketing work yourself.

Click on the links below to help you navigate the site and get your name known

  • If you don't have one already, set up a blog. They're quick, easy and free and great for creating a buzz around your work. Read our handy guide to setting up a blogging account.

  • Build yourself a website. It's a great way to provide prospective agents, publishers and readers with a place to find out more about you and your work. If you would like to speak to us about setting one up for you then please introduce yourself via the contact form. [We are a not-for-profit site so we normally charge just enough to cover costs].

  • To read an account of what can be involved in getting your work out there and recognised, read Kim Reeman's, no punches pulled interview.

  • Get yourself interviewed! There's probably no better way to get recognised than to open up to an interviewer (careful). [If you are published and feel you could contribute to the site in return for some marketing then please drop us a line using the contact form.]

  • We have a free download entitled Internet Marketing for Struggling Authors - click here to download a free copy

  • Get yourself linked! If you have a website, then make sure people know about it by getting yourself some reciprocal links. You can start by sending us yours via the contact form. If you are connected with the writing commmunity then we will add you to our links page - for the grand cost of... a link from you!

  • Don't forget you can always join our Author's Forum and speak to other Struggling Authors.

  • Network! Join a social media site like LinkedIn and join up with colleagues and friends to build up your list of contacts. Once you have a profile you can join groups of like minded individuals like the Aspiring Writers group.
