Kina 'Christina' de Grasse Forney

My name is Kina de Grasse Forney, although you may also see me go by Christina. Kina is a family nickname I adopted, and over the years it has also become my artist pen name.
I consider myself first and foremost an illustrator and graphic designer. Drawing is what comes most naturally to me, but I also really enjoy the world of design. Throughout my life I studied visual arts and music. I was born in Canada, and raised in both Ottawa and Montreal. I earned my bachelorof fine arts with a specialization in computation arts from Concordia Univeristy, Montreal in 2009.

Photoshop. One of my own original characters in an old Japanese print setting. An experiment with textures and different colour schemes.

I currently live with my husband and my
cat, drawing and designing websites free-lance full time. Like a lot of kids who get into drawing, I started off with anime and japanese cartoons; imitating and copying things I saw and found
visually appealing. As time went on, I started trying different subject matter and media, although the anime influence can still be clearly seen in my character illustrations.

Stanley Brambles [right]

Right now I'm focusing a lot of my energy on illustrating the novel
Stanley Brambles and the Pirate's Treasure, by
Owen Spendlove. It's my
first time drawing for a real novel, and I'm very excited about it. I
still feel like I'm very much in the development stages of my own
illustration style, and am not completely comfortable in it quite yet.
I hope that getting more projects like Stanley Brambles which help
push me into the direction I want my art to be.
