Having your work critiqued by your peers
By Richard Grayling

There are a number of different 'peer-critique' websites and each of them have a slightly different way of working.

We have focused on two sites based in the UK but their members are from all over the world.

You Write On www.youwriteon.com

Sponsored by the British Arts Council and working in partnership with Legend Press, the You Write On website is a credit based system where you earn a critique of your own work each time you critique someone elses.

They operate a 'Top Ten' system where the highest rated authors can earn a professional critique and even a publishing deal.

A community site for writers, readers and publishers, Authonomy was conceived by the editors at Harper Collins. It's easy to join and you can choose to be just a reader or upload some of your own work for peer critique.

Whilst there isn't a credit system per se, you do need to do 'read swaps' to encourge people to comment on your own work.
