Go Daddy Hosting
Go Daddy also offer pre-setup Wordpress hosting and prices are even less than the 123-Reg offering – as little as £2.25 per month if you commit to 36 months. Order your domain and hosting athttp://www.godaddy.com
Note: Domain names can take upto 48 hours to register, so you will not be able to start installation until your domain name is registered and operational and you have your all important usernames and passwords. The speed differs from provider to provider, with Titan Internet you will receive a comprehensive PDF document with details of usernames and usage, within hours of ordering on-line.

LETS GET STARTED

  1. Decompress your Wordpress .zip download, and note the location of the Wordpress Folder.
  2. Open up your Filezilla FTP applicationat the top of the window enter your hostname, username and password provided to you by your Internet Hosting provider and click the Quickconnect button.
If you have chosen Titan Internet as your host there is a section in the PDF document titled FTP.

If your Quickconnect was successful you should see various messages in green appear, red if it was not successful.

  3. Next we need to upload the Wordpress installation files to the web server. You may need to check your documentation from your Internet Service provider as to where your files need to be placed.  With Titan Internet the files should be placed in the /htdocs/ directory.
Some providers name the directory as your hostname, www and htdocs. It varies from host-to-host.
Half way down your Filezilla screen you will see two window panes side-by-side, Local and Remote. On the local left side navigate to your Wordpress Download directory and on the right select your htdocs directory.

We need to upload all the files and folders from within the wordpress directory in your local files. To do this select all the files (CRTL-A in Windows or CMD-A in OSX), right mouse click and select upload. At this point you can take a break and get a cup of tea, it may take a while depending on the speed of your internet connection.

When your upload is complete it should look alot like this, with the same files and folders on both sides. You can close Filezilla now.
  4. Open your Internet Web Browser (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome etc) and in the address bar enter the domain name for your web site:

You should be prompted with a Configuration message, go ahead and click the button ‘Create Configuration File’ and the ‘Lets Go!’ button that follows it.

  5. Next we need to enter our Database information, again this is provided to you by your Internet host.  WithTitan Internet your database name is usually the same as the username and the servername remains as localhost. You can change the table prefix if you want to but there is no reason to do that. Click Submit when you are done.
  6. If all the information you have entered is correct you should see a prompt to ‘Run the install’, so go ahead, Run the Install!
  7. Enter a Blog Title and your e-mail address on the next screen and click ‘Install’:
  8. Note down the admin password Wordpress allocated to you, it is CaSe SeNsItIvE and you will need it on the next screen to login.
  9. Go ahead and login
  10. The first task you will be presented with is changing your password, so go ahead and do it straight away!
